NATE DEE'S WISDOM
August 3, 2016

After finishing a mural for the Leah Arts District, our friend Nate Dee (AKA Nathan Delinois) couldn't take a break and went straight to Little Haiti, where he painted an even bigger one. This one enhances the Little Haiti Mural Project on NW 62nd street. The LHMP was organized to beautify the neighborhood in a thematically coherent way and has already completed 20 murals.
Nate’s contribution is called WISDOM: Seeing and Believing.

Complete mural on NW 62nd street.
"The idea is in order to employ wisdom they must first see it and then truly believe in it. My piece is an extension of the theme of the Case Maclaim and 2Alas mural that is next to it, which is inspired by Caravaggio's The Incredulity of Saint Thomas", explains Nate.

That’s a tall challenge – both artistically and emotionally – but he’s up to it. Born and raised in South Florida, Nate has a serious resumé, backed up by extensive study of diverse artistic traditions, including the drama and color of his Haitian heritage. His keen drawing skills shine through.

Nate Dee consistently uses animals – sometimes in human-hybrid form – to symbolize emotional states, personality traits and metaphysical attributes. They might be heroic guardian figures, or even demonic presences! In this mural he chose the owl to represent wisdom, a trait much needed in our streets.

"I love painting in little Haiti, the people there are always so gracious, and they truly appreciate the art. One older woman would come every day to see how much was completed. She would then start giving me advice on life and relationships." - Nate Dee
Sage advice, we expect.
